Doris Horrell, 73, of Belle Vernon passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in her home. A daughter of the late Theodore ‘Teddy’ and Leona Shimmel Turek, she was born in Charleroi on February 3, 1939. Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, a Monday card club, and served the former Community Ambulance Service for many years as an EMT and a CPR instructor. Doris grew up in Charleroi and had resided in Belle Vernon since 1959. She had been employed for I.T.S. in Charleroi and N. Huntingdon in the late 80’s and early 90’s. She loved gardening, swimming, reading and crocheting. Along with her late husband, she enjoyed spending time at the cabin at Tub Run along the Yough Lake. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Ken Prunty of Monongahela, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Roy W. Horrell of Belle Vernon and Ted and Cis Horrell of Fayette City, eleven grandchildren, Brandon Horrell, Alison Ducoli and her husband Jon, Aimee Gillingham and her husband Josh, Jeff Horrell, Kari Horrell, Jared Horrell, Josh Horrell, Brian Prunty, Garrett Horrell, Patrick Prunty and Jillian Sesar and her husband Matt, and six great-granddaughters, Nina, Mia and Alexa Gillingham, Paige, Louanne and Josslyn Ducoli. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy I. Horrell on January 12, 2010 and a brother, Paul Turek. Friends will be received 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.
